During the summer of 2019, MKD removed a substandard ten foot by six foot double RCB (reinforced concrete box) and installed a new double ten-foot by six-foot RCB. The crews lengthened the span of the box culvert thus widening the road, then installed cast in place headwalls. The second phase of the project involved milling and overlaying 2.5 miles of existing road on state route 226 with new asphalt. Given the remote location of the project all materials shipped in excess of 100 miles.
To accommodate vehicular and emergency traffic around the work zone a one-lane temporary detour was constructed and a temporary 60 foot Bailey Bridge built and installed over Jack Creek.
